Hey we picked up a few copies of the Major Lazer “Guns Don’t Kill People, Lasers Do,” album on 12″ vinyl. It has our favorite “Pon De Floor” track on it. A couple of copies in stock now Online and in-stores. It’s primarily a dance hall album, with the occasional techno samples. It also comes with a digital download of the album. We found some old footage of a Visionaries in-store we had back in 2007 at the Pomona location. We had a heavy crowd that night filling the floor at the GCS/Radio Futura complex. People lined up outside our doors and around the block to get a chance to check out the Visionaries for free. This was right after they dropped the Pangea album. It was one of our biggest and busiest in-stores to-date. Thanks to the Visionaries for coming through that day. We had a lot of fun. Remember we still carry Visionaries CD’s in stores. Enjoy!
Last year we had the privilege of having Bocafloja and DJ Ethos perform in Pomona for a free in-store. For those of you that are not familiar with Bocafloja, he is an inspiring Hip Hop lyricist/MC out of Mexico City. His lyrics touch on social, political, and every day life issues. Leo had a chance to record some of his set for your viewing pleasure. We hope to have him again next time he is in town. Don’t forget we have his albums and DVD’s available online and in-stores. Ok so we get customers coming into the store asking what those big round things on the wall are? Hey get your mind out of the gutter! They are talking about the vinyl records. Yes they ask and we are happy to answer. There aren’t many stores carrying 12” vinyl anymore, so we understand why the question is asked. So when this question is asked I always want to show them this video. Discovery channel did a special once on how those big round things on the wall are made. One of the first In-store performances in 2008 at Radio Futura/GCS Alhambra store. 2Mex(Visionaries) and Ikey Owens(Mars Volta) performed live as the Look Daggers. It’s an amazing mesh of rock, punk and hip hop all in one. Ikey Owens provides the keys and sounds as 2Mex fills the room(or patio) with his mind bending lyrics. It was a great performance by the duo as they graced our patio with a few tunes. You can still pick up copies of the Look Daggers CD at Radio Futura or click here to buy online.
