Went to GCS Santa Ana’s Subterranean Heads 2 Art Show. Good Show. Lot’s of fantastic art, cool people, and a great atmosphere. I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Mear One, one of the Los Angeles’ most talented artists. He was approachable and down to earth. We talked a little about his development as an artist and his subject matter. It turns out that Mear One and Splat actually curated the show. If you ever have the chance to go to the Santa Ana Art Walk-YOU SHOULD, and make sure you visit GCS Santa Ana when you go. On February 4, 2012 GCS Santa Ana will be hosting the 2nd part of the Subterranean Heads Art Show. The show is being curated by 455er. It should be a great show, just like the first one back in September of 2011. This show is slated to feature work by: Ambusch, Mear One, 455er, Rekal, Egads, Dume, Nasa Crew, Ash Conart, Biafra Inc, Akil Cronic Avengers, Pyro WCA, Ebenholz (Germany), Shiver AWR, Rodi, Splat, Art1, Hex, Czer, Just195, Free Humanity, YT, Phever…and Spoken word and Poetry by Mike The Poet. This was the show that just keeps on giving….content, I mean. I was looking through the photos from that night and I realized I had also recorded some video. That night, luckily, I was able to borrow some light from the videographers standing next to me in the pit to record this video. I didn’t physically borrow the light, I just stood really close to them and “borrowed” their light…nah mean? The lighting is decent but I do need to invest in a boom microphone if I want to record more performers. Check it out…it’s my first attempt. Oh, and, I ain’t gonna front, can someone help me with the title of the song he is performing?

Here are some shots I took on September 16th, 2011 at the Glasshouse in Pomona. It was a Sick Jacken, NME, Awol One, and ECID Show…at least those were the artists/performers that I got to see. Hey, it takes me a while to get to Pomona from Alhambra! Enjoy the photos!

Well, today we are going back to November 2011. We had the distinct pleasure of attending the Back 2 Basics 1 Year anniversary party. We shot some photos of the event and we had the privilege of listening to 6BLOCC aka R.A.W. tear it up on the decks. Great evening, GREAT EVENT. CURTISS KING / MC FUTURISTIC @ GCS POMONA

Pomona was bumping last weekend, on Friday the Curren$y / Dom Kennedy show rocked the Fox (see the previous posts). On Saturday, GCS Pomona featured MC Futuristic, Curtiss King, One.Step.Ahead., Catch Lungs, and The Noise 328 for an in store performance. From what people told me, the entire show was great. I only got there in time to listen to MC Futuristic. Great MC. I suggest you listen to his Butterfly track (feat AJA BLACK) from his new CD release “The Fly Trap”. In a word, it is AWESOME. Here are the only photos I took from the show.

Last night, Friday January 13th, I had the privilege of taking some photos of the Dom Kennedy and Curren$y show at the Fox. I was too late to shoot photos of the Inland Empire’s very own Noa James. Curren$y and Dom Kennedy put on an awesome show…it was cray (or swag, or ill, or…you get the idea). I think it might have sold out. Big Shout out to Abstract Evolution for the show…AND, most importantly, allowing me to shoot the show. Here are the photos. ENJOY!

Santa Ana Art Walk Wanderings Part Dos…or this is what was going on at GCS Santa Ana. They were hosting a $50 and under art exhibit. Basically, all the pieces that were available for sale were priced at $50 or less….To say the least-It was packed…”sardines in can” style, or to be more current “8 people in a smart car” style. So….I was only able to snap a couple of shots of the art and a couple of the master DJ at work….THE WIZARD was on the 1’s and 2’s. In any case here are the photos:

We went to view the RIDE exhibition at the CSUF Grand Central Art Center, it’s a great space, they have been having some good shows recently-but I still prefer the ones at GCS Santa Ana.
